The Wu style uses specific hand form with importance on parallel footwork, while some form of training involves usage of feet closer to each other than other Tai Chi styles. The focus during the hand techniques is mainly on tumbling, grappling, jumping, joint locks and breaks at preliminary level, and sword fencing, knife fencing at advanced levels.

The beginner level in Chen style known as empty hand form or Yi lu, consists of slow hand movements with large motions and expressions occasionally intervening the process. The intermediate level is performed with low stances or frame, the movements gradually become smaller, while the changes in directional force become milder. The advanced level increases the leg strength attained from the previous level thus allowing to express the explosive power through the body.

There are numerous elements in Tai Chi, all with long histories and complex methodologies - sanshou for self defense, nei gung, tui shou a form of response drills, Weapons, and solo hand routines. Known popularly as a slow-movement exercise, Tai Chi also has faster pace movements in advanced levels. Which one you choose is your choice.

The Yang style is the first Tai chi style we will discuss. This is the most popular of all the styles and used extensively around the world. The Yang style consists of three stages that increases length and difficulty, and uses the basic principals of Tai Chi such as balance, flexibility of the whole body, centering, alignment, stillness and rhythms with smooth movements.
