Personal self defense comes in a wide array of shapes and sizes, so it behooves you to do a bit of research to see which one would appeal to you the most. You may think that you need a black belt to really be able to defend yourself, but this is simply not true. This is obviously a way to have self defense handy and it is certainly something you need not lose sleep over to have it.

You can learn how to gouge eyes or how to defuse a person in some other simple way, just enough to make your getaway a cinch. The fact that you have some years on you doesn't rule out acquiring some basic self defense moves. You can never tell when they may come in handy, especially is you frequent ATMs, for example.

Some people think that the best weapon against aggression is a gun. But there are ways to defend yourself that do not resort to lethal weapons. For one thing, you may really not be the type of person who can actually shoot another human being. But if you have a nonlethal way of protecting yourself, that may well be your best bet.

The fact is that personal self defense is not some unheard of opulence. So do think about getting on with the program. You can never tell when you may find yourself in a circumstance where knowing a few tricks may help you stay safe. And walk away without the worse for the wear and tear.
