Ever since I was young, I had dreamed of leaving my boring life in the farm and going to the big city to meet people and find success. So, when I was accepted to a scholarship program in New York City, it was literally a dream come true for me.

Unfortunately, it is proving to be quite a challenge because I need to be ready to tread new and unfamiliar ground such as crimes that accompany urban city living. As such, I made sure to include personal alarms among the essentials to ensuring my protection.

When I looked for a safety alarm at Web sites, I discovered a 130 dB alarm with door alarm, the Nap Alarm, and the Mace Screecher alarm. All are pocket-friendly and come with different strengths.

Becoming active in college clubs and engaging in various school endeavors has started to take a toll on my academic performance. I have to deal with pressure when exam time approaches especially when I am lagging behind.

Fortunately, I am able to stay alert and study with the help of the Nap Alarm. From all the personal alarms that I have, this anti-drowsiness alarm plays a big role in helping me pass my examinations. This defense alarm will create a very loud sound when its electronic position sensor placed over my ear detects any forward motion of the head, effectively rousing me from sleepiness.

Due to my demanding schedule with my student organization, I frequently go home late, thereby putting me at risk one night. It happened when I went to a 24/7 store to grab some food while on my way to the dormitory. Two thugs attempted to rob me before I could walk away.

Faced with danger at that moment, I reached for my Mace Screecher Alarm and pointed it to the aggressors. Small in size, this safety alarm was one of the personal alarms that I had procured and comes in a 10 gram canister capable of dispensing 30 short blasts. It released an earsplitting blast, which could be heard for a distance of 1/4 mile. Hearing the sound, a nearby police car responded right away and frightened the attackers.

To prevent my dorm room from being ransacked by robbers, I installed my 130 dB alarm with door alarm at the door. If its strap connected to a pin is pulled, it will make a warning sound comparable to eight 100 dB alarms. Aside from being an outdoor alarm, it clearly works as a door or window alarm. I am glad that I thought of equipping myself with personal alarms to safeguard me from danger and keep my belongings safe.
